Spectrum v1 howto

It's taken me awhile to develop the notes to the point where they're share-able but I've finally posted the draft guide for setting up Spectrum v1. I've included notes on interfacing Spectrum with eJabberd, Openfire, Munin, and Monit.

The PDF is in Google Docs. Let me know if you find any bugs?

Emergency Communications class

Attended the HPT Emergency Communications class today, at the Red Cross building in Hampton, VA. Although I live out of the HPT jurisdiction, the group always keeps their activities (and classes) interesting. I even acquired my General Class license after taking KC4F's class a few years ago.

Was especially interested in the packet radio portion of today's class. We all learned a bit more than expected as one of the three rigs refused to communicate properly for the first hour or so (we fixed it when we got to the point where we were checking connections on the back of the equipment).

Thanks goes to KC4F and KI4JZW for hosting today, and good luck tomorrow!

British Raspberry Pi Visits 757Labs

Pi-20120420

Last night was Open House night at 757Labs. I was only able to stay for the first hour but it was interesting. I wasn't able to catch the guy's name but someone brought in a Raspberry Pi that he'd purchased in England. Given the response, once they become available, I imagine that the lab is going to be full of Pi (Pi's?) for awhile.
